What does a new AC cost per month in South Florida?
A new system runs roughly $92 to $184 a month on $0-down, 0% financing over 60 months, on approved credit — which covers most homes from under 1,200 sq ft up to 3,500 sq ft. The figure is simply the installed price divided across the term, with no interest during the promotional period and nothing due at signing.
For most households the real question was never “can I find $9,000.” It is “can I fit $150 a month.” That is a different decision, and it is the one this page is about. Full installed prices sit in our South Florida AC cost guide.

Monthly payment by system price
Figures assume 0% APR across 60 months with $0 down, on approved credit. Divide any installed price by 60 and you have the number.
| Installed price | Per month |
|---|---|
| $5,500 | ~$92/mo |
| $6,500 | ~$109/mo |
| $8,000 | ~$134/mo |
| $10,000 | ~$167/mo |
| $11,000 | ~$184/mo |
| $13,500 | ~$225/mo |
Shorter terms raise the monthly figure and lower the total time you carry the balance. We will show you both when we quote.
Monthly payment by home size
Matching the two tables: the payment tracks your home size, because the system size does.
| Home size | From |
|---|---|
| Under 1,200 sq ft | ~$92/mo |
| 1,200–1,800 sq ft | ~$109/mo |
| 1,800–2,500 sq ft | ~$134/mo |
| 2,500–3,500 sq ft | ~$167/mo |
| 3,500+ sq ft | ~$184/mo |
These start from the low end of each band. A higher efficiency tier, a heat pump or new ductwork moves the figure up — see what an installation includes.
What to check before you sign anything
Not all “0%” offers are the same product, and the difference only shows up after the promotional period ends. Four things to confirm with any contractor, ours included:
- True 0% or deferred interest? True 0% charges no interest at all across the term. A deferred-interest plan charges nothing only if the full balance clears before the promo ends — miss it and interest can be charged back to day one. Ask which one you are being offered, and get it in writing from the lender.
- The actual term. “Up to 60 months” means the longest term available, not the one you are approved for. Your approval decides your term, and your term decides the payment.
- What happens after the promo. Ask for the rate that applies to any remaining balance.
- Prepayment. Most home-improvement lenders allow early payoff without penalty, but it is a lender term, not a contractor promise — confirm it on your own agreement.
The financing agreement is between you and the lender. We arrange it and hand you the terms; we do not set them. Details on our financing page.
Financing versus paying cash
At a genuine 0%, financing costs nothing extra, so the argument for paying cash is about not carrying a commitment rather than about saving money. Two practical points from the field:
- Do not buy a smaller system to lower the payment. An undersized or oversized unit costs more every month it runs and fails earlier. Size it by calculation, then choose the term — not the other way round.
- Replacing before failure is cheaper than replacing during it. An August emergency limits your options to whatever is in stock, at the busiest pricing of the year. A planned replacement in a quieter month gives you real choice.
On incentives: the federal 25C tax credit ended for equipment placed in service after December 31, 2025, so it does not apply to a 2026 installation. What remains is manufacturer promotions and FPL rebates on qualifying equipment — see rebates and incentives.
AC Financing — FAQ
What is the monthly payment on a $10,000 AC system?
About $167 a month on $0-down, 0% financing over 60 months, on approved credit. The arithmetic is simply $10,000 divided by 60, because no interest accrues during a true 0% promotional term. A shorter approved term raises the figure — the same system over 36 months would be closer to $278 a month.
Is 0% AC financing really 0%?
It can be, but check which product you are offered. True 0% charges no interest for the whole term. Deferred interest charges nothing only if you clear the balance before the promotional period ends, and if you do not, interest can be applied retroactively from day one. Ask the contractor which one it is and read the lender's agreement — the terms come from the lender, not from the installer.
Do I need a down payment for a new AC in South Florida?
Not with $0-down financing, on approved credit — nothing is due at signing and the first payment falls on the lender's normal schedule. Paying something down is still an option if you want a lower monthly figure or a shorter term, and we will show you both versions when we quote.
Is it better to finance an AC or pay cash?
At a genuine 0% there is no cost difference, so it comes down to whether you would rather hold the cash or avoid the commitment. What we would advise against either way is choosing equipment by monthly payment: a system sized wrong to hit a number costs more to run every month and fails sooner, which erases the saving several times over.
What credit score do I need for AC financing?
The lender sets the threshold, not us, and it varies by program and by the term you apply for — so we will not quote a number we do not control. What we can tell you is that the application is quick, you get the decision and the exact terms before committing to anything, and if the answer is not what you hoped there are usually shorter-term or part-down options worth looking at.
Can I pay off AC financing early without a penalty?
Most home-improvement lenders allow early payoff with no prepayment penalty, and on a deferred-interest plan paying early is exactly what you want to do. It is a lender term rather than something the contractor controls, so confirm it on your own agreement before you sign — it should be stated plainly in the document.
